Summer is not good, April to September, wrong direction. Winter is good, October to March, NE-E-SE are all good directions. Can get 15-20 knots for a few days in a row. The apartments create a huge compression zone and make the kites become unstable in the gusty conditions. The beach curves, but mainly sideshore are NNW and SSE.

Lantau Island / Cheung Chau, Hong Kong is a
Chop and Small waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Small size.
Very narrow beach, approx. 5m wide and 300m long, with 4 story apartments on the edge of the beach. Grainy sand. Concrete walkway 5m from the water, followed by barbed wire and television aerials all the way down the beach. Almost one of the worst places to launch in HK, but worth it once you are out and clear of the buildings.
Deep, reasonably clean for HK standards, choppy beach break.
