How to get there
From Auckland city just drive along the waterfront past Kelly Tartons and Fergs Kayaks and eventually you'll get to this crowded spot and this is Mission Bay. Good luck finding a park.

There is
Frontal wind
at Mission Bay, New Zealand.
Best direction here is NW which is sideonshore. Not a light wind spot. Needs at least 25 knots to be worth a visit here. Strong NW winds aren't common in Auckland but can occur at anytime of the year. As mentioned before not a sea breeze spot. Suited to strong winds for less crowded conditions. Don't use a big kite here. This beach works at anytime of the year so long as there is a strong NW wind which can appear anytime of the year. These winds though are generally rare in Auckland.

Mission Bay, New Zealand is a
Chop spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of

In summer the beach gets incredibly crowded. Car parking is near impossible on a hot summers day so don't come here in these conditions. The beach itself is sandy with ample room to launch a kite. Just don't annoy other water/beach users.

Do NOT kite here if sunny 10 knots as it will be very packed. There are no hard and fast rules laid down but just use common sense. This place is the busiest beach in Auckland and is only suitable to kite in if it's blowing very hard. This is not a spot for groveling or beginners. You need to know how to relaunch your kite. ALWAYS use a kite leash here. There are no exceptions!
