How to get there
Very close to the airport, you will probably see it well upon landing. Rental car or taxi. There are two official access points which are pretty hard to find: One is about halfway through the locality and consists of a narrow pathway from the main road to the beach. The other is just on the northern boundary of the private yacht club situated opposite Ile aux Aigrette.

There is
Trade wind
at Pointe d'Esny, Mauritius.
SE trade wind period, making the good time of the year a real treat as you can kite day and night, there is such consistent wind. The spot works well with any wind from North through to SSE, Le Morne doesn't work well (in the lagoon if the wind is ESE round to the north) as the the wind is gusty coming over the mountains. The best months are June to September, but I have had excellent conditions through to November and starting in April.

Pointe d'Esny, Mauritius is a
Flat, Chop and Small waves spot.
The
launching/landing area
is reported to be of
Medium size.
The beach is beautifully wide and white fine sand (sunglasses recommended at noon). Some coral pieces on the beach, so be careful with your gear. Some rocks at the north end where the yacht club is located.
Probably the biggest lagoon of the island. The water is pretty flat on the south side, and the further north you sail the choppier it gets, specially near the big sea channels. Although the southern end has a nice wave spot, this is not adapted to kiting or windsurfing as it is hidden from the wind. The water is particularly clear in this lagoon, making the sessions there always memorable. Beware of the strong current between the coast and Ile aux Aigrettes, this is in the same direction as the wind and makes upwind rides all the more difficult.

Be careful, too many reckless kiters have made us unwelcome in front of the yacht club beach for launching and kiting. Always be extra careful in lagoons when approaching channels and passes, the current will surprise you very often and you will get sucked out to sea before you know it. Usually sharks also like to hang around there, as they can just sit and gobble up the morsels that come ripping past. Around the island there are a lot of fish, so every boat has its rod or hand line for fishing which is constantly in use, so do not pass to near boats as you might get caught up like a fish. Behind moving boats there are often trawling lines, these are a great trap.
